Talili Bay Warriors win Rabaul Peace Cup Nines

The Talili Bay Warriors from Pila Pila have won the 2021 Peace Cup Nines held in Rabaul over the weekend, defeating the Tavui Giants in the competition Final.

The eight team tournament took place at the home of Rugby League in East New Britain, Queen Elizabeth Park, until the volcanic activity of Tavurvur and Vulcan caused significant damage and disruption to the city until a few years ago.

The Peace Cup officially re-launches Rugby League’s return to the city, with a Men’s, Women’s and Under 20’s competition set to be run in and around the town.

The Rabual Rugby League is an official affiliate of the PNGRFL New Guinea Islands (NGI) Confederation. Current Kumul coach, Michael Marum, is President of the League which will also serve as a feeder to Digicel Cup team, the Rabual Gurias (based out of Kokopo)
