Pakistan

Rugby League was first introduced into Pakistan via the British Asian Rugby Association (BARA) in early 2008. In partnership with Leeds University, the Rugby League International Federation (RLIF) and the Rugby League European Federation (RLEF), BARA visited a series of schools in Islamabad and provided training sessions for interested teachers and students.

Pakistan played their first representative international in 2009 when the Great Britain Community Lions toured. The visiting Lions team ran out 46 – 0 victors, however it represented the first time Pakistan had been represented in International Rugby League.

Pakistan were awarded official observer status by the Rugby League International Federation in 2009.
